Our Story

From a vintage diner to a local favorite in Blue Mountain Lake

Chef Darrel's Mountain Diner is a traditional diner located in Blue Mountain Lake serving breakfast all day as well as lunch, dinner. We use fresh ingredients to handcraft a home-style menu in a casual, family-friendly environment. The dining area was built by the Silk City Diner Company, a division of Paterson Vehicle Company, of Paterson NJ in 1946, as a prefab working restaurant. It was #59, a sister to the Miss Albany Diner in Albany, NY. After it was completed, the diner was moved to Conowingo MD on the Susquehana River and operated as a diner for decades. Tom Warrington and Betsy Folwell bought it in 2015 and moved it to Blue Mountain Lake, NY in 2017.

About Chef Darrel's Mountain Diner

More than 75 years ago Silk City Diner number 4657 left the factory in Paterson, New Jersey. The 42-seat restaurant—with a stainless steel and cream enamel exterior, traveled to Conowingo, Maryland, about 35 miles from Baltimore. There it served customers for decades. From Maryland it was hauled to Pennsylvania, then Ohio, where it was partially restored. It landed in Blue Mountain Lake, New York, in 2017, during a blizzard.
